so hey, I'm 21 now and living in Vancouver. It's a big change when you move out and start living on your own, I've acquired routines and necessities i never thought i would come to admit. I've ventured out on streets way past a bed time, and even created a bedtime time. Everything that i am capable of now i cant say that I've learned by myself. It's heavily influenced by people "Back Home". Winnipeg has shaped me into one of the most well rounded people in this day and age, all my friends that i keep in touch with will never be forgotten, the topography will never be erased, the memories of the environment i once claimed ownership to will never leave my mind. my parents can look at me now and feel proud not because i became a useless fuck with a B.A. degree but that i am surviving without financial aid. Right now I've learned what I'm capable of and i couldn't be more proud of myself in a introspective sense. I criticize less, am less aggressive, put more forethought into things, and express interest in more foreign concepts than before. This whole rant probably has the reader lost right now because of how I'm putting this. I'm still the same Brady, but I've done a lot of that Life thing people fear so much in the last year. I'm honing skillz bitches, and my reps getting bigger. although its all coming into light that soon i will need to focus my attention on finding a suitable career other than the B plan which is a camera technician. Big ups to everyone, even the enemies.

So recently I quit at the Camera repair shop (although i have 1 or 2 more blogs on camera type stuff in raw unadulterated pictures) and moved out west to BC-donalds. I am recently holding up at a friends house but i assure that doesnt mean i've been living it up. its rained for 5 days in a row, which is a normal occurance, BUT COME ON!!! 5 DAYSS!! So before i look for an apartment, i need a job, and before i get a job i want a car. so this is my days leading up to my next vehicular purchase...

I left midweek on a big jet

I took a wicked poo and drew an awesome picture on the seat in front of me.

when i arrived i was taken away to my grandparents house and fed burnt swedish meatballs. of which case jacob contacted me and we met up at the sky train. went to his place and i set up shop IMMEDIATLY!!!

so it took me a short while to realise that busses and carpools suck ass

so i hit the classifieds and spied up this lilttle beauty!!

now alot of people nowadays think its perfectly acceptible to shop online, and it is. But i found out shortly after i posted a car for sale that alot of people think that used item classifieds are much like ebay or amazon. reality check people, get off your fat ass and actually see what it is that is for sale!

So, i checked out ferry departure times and bus routes and planned my day. I left at 9:15 and caught a bus to horseshoe bay. It was a rainy ass day again.

and that got boring right quick, so i resorted to Origami.

Once on the island, i resorted once again to bussing...

and walking.

until i finnaly met up with a Mr. Furley looking guy in his 60's with this parked in his drive way...

Needless to say it was way sick, so i offered a G note and he accepted on the terms that it was cash, paid in full. so now one of these weekends i gotta pick it up and drive it back to BC.

in the meantime heres a video of what i'll be missing out on in winnipeg...

Well as promised for the second installment of many to come, the task of repairing a wounded Olympus stylus 80 Deluxe. Now even though film cameras are dated they are still great for photo taking purposes. Although when one craps out on you its very aggravating because your mind is consumed with thinking about replacing it with a digital. i'm her to make sure that never happens...EVER.

i then put everythign back together and this trick seemed to cure the ailment.
but even though the shutter is releasing, you gotta run a test roll through it to make sure it makes it to 24 without a problem.

and voila, easy money as far as i'm concerned. out the door that one went and onto the next one, and since we are on film subjects such as this stylus. I guess this is the perfect oppurtune to display how i fixed my Leica IIIc

It came in with the film advance knob heavely tweaked out of operation condition. with it advanceing half the time and slipping the other, it had to be remedied. upon inspection i discover that the frame where the knob sat had been demo'd.

so after fitting it a couple times i cmae up with this solution. since the knob sits in a ring

which was secured in the busted off frame pieces notch

I came up with the idea to reinforce the later'd construct with some washers.

i took the dremel and a fine cutting bit and work the washer to accept the ring

and got it to snugly fit the ring.

after that i used metal epoxy to set it in place on the camera

and when the smoke cleared it worked like a charm! so i reassembled the whole thing and recovered it in denim.

which looks hella good even if your a purist you take every chance you had to use it.

Thats it for this installment, in the next one i'll put up some digital camera repairs. But be forewarned, most digital camera repairs are lens jobs and battery doors. so theres nothign to exciting other than expensive ass mistakes that may happen.

I am a camera technician and most of my day is comprised with little German jigsaw puzzles and japanese riddles. I can say first hand that it is no picnic working on little marvels of technology but after awhile it becomes very interesting on trying to figure out how to cure an itch on a Canon. So it goes, that all that couldnt be done without...
TOOLS OF THE TRADE!

The tools i use are of a smaller scale, and most of its fairly simple to get a hold of. I keep most of the little buggers in a tool drawer as such...

and in each tiny confine lies...
Pinchers and files,

Phillips,

Flathead,

and Junk and wire,

Outside the cabinet lies accessories for Cleaning and fabricating.

and Safety Equipment

What comes after those beauties are things that...
provide a source of energy,

or a medium to etch upon.

There are more mechanisms and such that help me, but ever since digital camera repiar has taking off i havent found a need to use them.. mostly vices or pliers. but one thing i could not and i mean WOULD NOT work without.

is the foot heater.
